The subject of my diploma thesis, for the Master in Landscape (MBLandArch), was the lake Pamvotida and specifically the sensorial perception all along its perimeter.
The four distinctive spatial modules at the lakefront are mainly formed by the existing uses of land and by the human factor. Therefore, the transition at the limit with the water creates an urban, an agricultural, a touristic and a natural landscape.
The ground morphology and the obvious differences at the intensity of the existing relief, define the specific identity for each of the above areas.
The analysis of the landscape was carried out through the consideration that, as lake Pamvotida is a mature lake, whose ageing is accelerated by human activity, the only way for it to be protected is that the inhabitants themselves create a living relation with the landscape.
This process defines the criteria for future interventions, which will be based on the various kinds of perception through the sences, and also through the cultural landscape and the collective memory of the inhabitants at the Pamvotida basin. A central axis for the landscape design is the reconciliation of people with the local micro climate, as well as the recognition of the need for targeted territorial and landscape planning, according to the specific character of the various landscapes - narratives at the water limit.
